This well known area is in Central London and is quiet famous for luxury Holborn hotels. This place started out as an empty filed in the city and today it has become quite popular in terms of everything which a Londoner or a traveler requires. Holborn offers quiet a lot of things to check out if you are on a holiday.

As far as the close by attractions are known, this underground has quiet a lot.

Bloomsbury Theater:

The first and the foremost is the Bloomsbury Theater which is a happening place hosting various events and performances to suit all tastes. This stunning auditorium features 535 comfortable seats with plenty of leg space well complemented by a relaxed atmosphere. It also has a studio for hire. A unique structure is designed with bars and restaurants for your convenience. Over the years this theater has shown a large number of productions and is still afresh.

Sir John Soane’s Museum:

This museum architecture was formerly the studio and house of the neo-classical architect Sir John Soane. The museum houses collection of many antiques, paintings and drawings and many of his other projects. It is a non-departmental public body that is now sponsored by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

Roman Bath:

It is an archeological puzzle and the bath dates back from Tudor times and it is said to be fed by the spring water from a holy well. These are free unattended attractions which are managed by The National Trust. This famous attraction in London is walking distance away from Holborn and Temple tube stations.

The London Transport Museum:

As the name suggests the museum is all about fascinating stories of history of London transport. It got opened in 1980 by Princess Anne. There are some permanent exhibitions which include “The Birth of London Transport” and the explorations of the first ever transport system here in London. After trams and trolley buses, the capital city shifted a little towards electric transport which was far cheaper to run and was the first real mass transport system. Other than this there are various fine examples of private vehicles dating back over past 150 years.

Royal Courts of Justice:

It is housed within a Gothic building like structure where nation’s most serious civil, libel and appeal cases are handled. It was the last Gothic revival building which was built in London. It consists of more than three miles of corridors and more than one thousand rooms.

Regarded as the world’s oldest scientific zoo, this natural escapade in the modern suburbs is a great place to indulge the mind and eye for some knowledge about the wildlife and nature. Located near the Regent’s Park, London Zoo is now operated by the Zoological Society of London.

The zoo’s history dates back to as far as 27th of April 1828, the date where the zoo is officially open for scientific studies. Now spanning around nearly 36 acres, London Zoo is home for a collection of 755 species of animals and nearly 15000 individuals. To witness this humongous wild life habitat, a person can either use the London underground train or the 274 bus route to get to the London Zoo.

One of the many attractions in London Zoo is The African Bird Safari, which was opened in 2005 is the home to 113 bird species. A walkthrough and a bridge which hangs over a stream and high trees ensure that the visitors will get an adventurous experience as it is in these suburbs.

The aquarium, the first of its kind in the world, is the home for 213 species of fish and the Butterfly Paradise is full of endangered species of small flying beauties and also educates the visitors about the dangers faced by these species. B.U.G.S. or better known as Biodiversity Underpinning Global Survival is project which launched to educate the public about the importance of bio diversity and this place is also the home for Zoological Society of London’s Invertebrate Conservation Unit.

London Zoo also comprises of a children’s zoo known as Ambika Paul’s Children Zoo which is based around pet care center and the paddock, which provides first hand experience on animals. Another interesting part in London Zoo is Clore Rainforest Lookout which is built to recreate the South American rain forest atmosphere right here in London. Gorilla Kingdom and Reptile Houses are much more informative and clear up any misunderstanding about these creatures and educate the public about their endangered future because of human activities.

Langham Hotel London, a premiere choice in London hotels will provide the easy getaway to London Zoo and ease up the tire of the journey at the lap of the best in London Luxury Hotels.

The easiest way to get around London is by public transport. This article provides brief information about the various transport options available to you, including useful maps to guide you around the city.

What is an Oyster card?

Oyster is the easiest way to pay for single journeys on buses, Tube, trams, DLR, London Overground and some National Rail services in London. You can store your Travelcard/Bus Pass and/or cash to pay as you go on your card.

How to use your Oyster card

Just touch your Oyster card flat on a yellow card reader each time you make a journey.Always touch in at the start and touch out at the end of your journey, even if the gates are open.

Buses

Always touch in as you board. You do not need to touch out.

Trams

Always touch in on the card reader on the tram stop platform before boarding a tram. You do not need to touch out.

How to pay for your journeys with Oyster

You can store cash on your card to pay for single journeys as you go. You can make as many journeys as you like in a 24 hour period and you will always be charged less than the price of an equivalent Day Travelcard or One Day Bus Pass.

For complete flexibility, you can store tickets and cash on a single Oyster card. Remember: the cash you put on Oyster never expires so hold onto the Oyster card for your next visit to London.

How to get an Oyster card and top up. You can renew the ticket stored on your card or top up your cash balance:

Online at the UK Government site. At most Tube stations through the touchscreen ticket machines and the station ticket offices. At over 2,200 Oyster Ticket Stops. Find your nearest one at the UK Government site

At some National Rail ticket offices. At 7 London Travel Information Centres, which also offer travel advice, free maps and entry tickets to many attractions.

Using Oyster on National Rail

7 Day and longer period Travelcards stored on Oyster can be used across National Rail services in London. If using cash to pay as you go for single journeys please check with the train operator before travelling as not all routes are covered on National Rail.

I hope this small guide helps you if you are ever visiting out capital city, they sure helped me when I visited. The confusion really comes when you try to use the tube system in London, I shall leave that article for another day as it gets even more difficult than travelling by the bus system. If all else fails then I guess you can always rely on a trusted black cab driver.

For foodies, London is a culinary heaven, with plenty of restaurants, cafés and other places to find some of the best cuisine in the world.

Each summer, this focus on food is celebrated through the Taste of London festival, which draws out tourists and locals alike to sample some of the best fare to come out of London.

London being a multicultural and diverse city, the food during this outdoor weekend festival is varied and comprised of various cuisines. Held in Regent’s Park, the event draws of chefs that specialize in Italian, Thai and even local British cuisine for the outdoor event.

In fact, this summer’s event will have a particular focus on food from Thailand, with restaurants from around the city showcasing their specialties and even educating many visitors on the history and technique of Thai food.

There is much to experience at the Taste of London festival, including wine tastings and some chefs even provide cooking classes for a few participants. For others there’s the ability to sample new and unique foods at individual booths.

The Taste Theatre is one unique draw. The venue showcases professional chefs who demonstrate new cooking techniques and perform for attendees. This educational aspect of the festival is a large draw for many attendees, who relish the opportunity to learn from world-renowned chefs.

The Taste of London festival is part of a wider network of similar food festivals that are held around the UK each year. The festivals aim to promote the local food culture of cities and municipalities, and work to bring together community members through food.

There is also the opportunity for many people to do some food shopping to find some unique kitchen tools and ingredients at the event. Whether it’s purchasing a great new frying pan, or a rare and interesting ingredient, there’s always something unique at the Taste of London festival. And the event itself is easy to reach, no matter if you’re a frequent visitor of busy London; the festival is located in a prime London location.

What’s more, it is good to know that plenty of the hotels in London are within convenient location of the festival; therefore, there’s no reason not to experience the culinary delights of this world-class festival.

But no matter which hotel you’ve chosen to stay in, you’ll find it’s easy to access this festival, and plenty of other entertaining London attractions.
